Description

DEFT puts the ball under your index finger for quick, precise cursor control. Your finger does all the moving while your arm and wrist stay put, which makes long sessions in spreadsheets, browsers and design apps more comfortable. The 34mm ball is easy to control with a single finger.

The body is shaped around six key bones and muscles your hand touches as you work, so your palm rests naturally and stays relaxed hour after hour. A gaming-grade optical sensor reads the ball accurately, and large 2.5mm artificial ruby supports keep it rolling smoothly with less dust buildup.

Eight buttons put your most-used shortcuts right where your fingers land, including back and forward, a tilt wheel for side scrolling and three function buttons. OMRON switches on the main buttons are rated for 10 million clicks. Plug the cable into any USB-A port and it's ready, with no batteries to swap.

Is DEFT WIRED compatible with Mac and Windows?

Yes. It works with Windows and macOS over USB-A.

Does the button software work on Mac?

Yes. ELECOM Mouse Assistant has a Mac version that supports macOS Ventura and later. Download it free from the ELECOM website and remap buttons the same way you would on Windows.

Do I need batteries?

No. DEFT WIRED draws power from your computer through the USB cable.

Can I customize the buttons?

Yes. Use the free ELECOM Mouse Assistant to assign your own functions to the buttons, including the three function buttons.

Index finger or thumb trackball: which is better?

Index-finger trackballs give you more range and finer control. Thumb trackballs feel closer to a regular mouse, so they're quicker to learn. DEFT is a great fit if precision matters most to you.

What size replacement ball do I need?

DEFT uses a 34mm ball. Replacement ball M-B1RD is sold separately.

How do I clean it?

Push the ball out through the opening on the bottom and wipe the ball and ruby supports with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Is there a wireless version?

Yes. DEFT WIRELESS has the same ball, buttons and shape with a USB receiver. DEFT PRO adds Bluetooth, a larger 44mm ball and a 3-year warranty.
